Alright, let’s break it down! 🔍 The stages of decomposition are a fascinating journey. Here are the 5 key stages

#Forensics #Decomposition"

1. Fresh Stage
Autolysis starts right after death, causing cells to break down internally. During this phase, rigor mortis begins and muscles stiffen, the skin becomes glossy, blisters form, and the outer skin layer loosens.

2. Blot Stage
As enzymes and bacteria break down tissues, gases form and cause the body to bloat, sometimes doubling its size, and the skin turns greenish.

3. Active Decay Stage
During active decay, soft tissues liquefy and fluids are released as the body loses most mass and insect activity increases.

4. Advanced Decay Stage
Decomposition slows as most soft tissues break down, leaving bones, dried tissues, and residual fluids; this stage can last several weeks depending on environmental factors.

4. Dry/Skeletal Stage
The skeletonization stage ends active decay. Remaining soft tissues collapse and dry out. Nails and teeth fall out as all soft tissue breaks down completely.
